Measurements

Finished Bumblebee is approximately 4” long x 2.5” wide x 3.5” tall.

Matching exact gauge is not required when making amigurumi as long as your finished fabric is dense and stuffing is not visible between stitches.

Place safety eyes between rounds 4 and 5, 10 stitches apart as shown. Using pink yarn sew on blush beneath the eyes. Using black yarn, embroider a small smile between the eyes.

I prefer to do the face after round 12 so that I can clearly see where the jog in the colors created by the start of the round is and make sure that it is at the bottom of the bee. The face may look a little weird right now but it will fill and round out once the bee is stuffed.

Rnd 12-15: sc in each st around. (36)

Change to yellow yarn in last st of rnd 15.

Rnd 16-19: sc in each st around. (36)

Change to black yarn in last st of round 19.

Rnd 20-23: sc in each st around. (36)

Change to yellow yarn in last st of round 23.

Rnd 24-26: sc in each st around. (36).

Begin stuffing your bee and continue to stuff it as you continue to close it.

Rnd 27: 2 sc, [invisible dec in next 2 st, 4sc] x 5, invisible dec in next 2 st, 2 sc. (30)
Rnd 28: [3 sc, invisible dec in next 2 st] x 6. (24)
Rnd 29: sc, [invisible dec in next 2 st, 2 sc] x 5, invisible dec in next 2 st, sc. (18)
Rnd 30: [sc, invisible dec in next 2 st] x 6. (12)
Rnd 31: [invisible dec in next 2 st] x 6. (6)

Sl st to first st of rnd and fasten off leaving a long tail to close the bottom hole. Weave in any ends.

Wings:

Begin with white yarn.

Rnd 1: 6 single crochet in magic ring. Pull ring tightly closed. (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st inc around. (12)
Rnd 3: [sc, 2 sc in next st inc] x 6. (18)
Rnd 4: sc in each st around. (18)

Sl st to first st of rnd and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the wing to the top center back of the body between the two black stripes. Weave in the ends.

Enjoy your new chunky bumblebee friend! If you would like to make him even chunkier, you can hold worsted weight double with a 6.5mm hook and 18mm safety eyes.
